LEAD & COAL IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

LOOKING AHEAD:  CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

FOR WEEKS OF NOVEMBER 15-19; NOVEMBER 22-24 AND NOVEMBER 29-DECEMBER 3, 2010

November 15-19, 2010
1)  Coal Ave. from Sycamore to Ash: Crews will remove asphalt.


2)  University Blvd. SE from north of Basehart Road to between Coal Place and Lead Avenue:

     Construction will continue and traffic will be restricted.

3) Coal Ave. from Mulberry to Sycamore: Crews will begin laying storm drainage lines and inserting sleeves

    in those lines.

4) Coal SE & University SE: Crews will begin laying storm drainage trunk lines and lateral lines.

November 22-24, 2010 (Thanksgiving Week – Shorter Schedule due to Holiday)

1) Coal Ave. from Ash to University: Crews will remove asphalt.

2)  University Blvd. SE from north of Basehart Road to between Coal Place and Lead Avenue:

      Construction will continue and traffic will be restricted.

3) Coal SE & University SE: Crews will continue laying storm drainage trunk lines and lateral lines.


4) Coal Ave. from Mulberry to Sycamore: Crews will begin relocating water meters & other crews will

     prepare the roadway for repaving.

November 29-December 3, 2010
1) Coal Ave. from Ash to University & from University to Buena Vista:  Crews will remove asphalt.

2) Coal from Mulberry to Sycamore:  Crews will continue relocating water meters and preparing the roadway

     for repaving. Once preparation is complete, crews will begin installing base course (the material under the

     asphalt).

 

General Information:

Construction is expected to last approximately 18 months, through spring 2012. The contractor will work in approximate 5-block areas, finishing all construction in one area before moving on to the next. 2 crews will be working on the project at the same time. Initial work zones will be at Coal & I-25, heading east and at Coal & University, heading east. Regular work hours will be daylight hours (7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday) although crews may work later hours or on weekends if needed due to an emergency or unforeseen circumstance.
